I
Challenge You To Learn First Aid in 2008
Let me ask you this. If you found
a child lying face down in a pool, would you know what to do?
If you said “No!”, then unfortunately you are not alone. In a report
released in May 2007 it was shown that “Only 7% of Australians were
confident to administer CPR or First Aid at the scene of a serious accident”
This is an appalling statistic, and here is another that I also found, “40%
of all deaths in Children Under 5 are caused by DROWNING”.
Having two Nieces’ in this age bracket and my cousins son being just 3, I felt
that it was time I used all the resources of my company to improve these
statistics and if I save just one life, then it is all worthwhile.
My team and I decided that our company wouldn’t be a company that complains to
the politicians to do something about this appalling situation. We are going to
lead the charge and solve it ourselves … but with your help.
So here is my challenge to you.
I, Christopher John Le Roy,
Managing Director of the One-on-One Learning Centre hereby challenge 10,000
residents in the Townsville/Thuringowa Region to become fully qualified in First
Aid and CPR in 2008. I hereby name this challenge – First Aid Challenge
10,000 Townsville.
With your support and commitment we will realize our dream and bring those
appalling statistics down.
As part of my commitment to the local community, in February 2008, I will be
launching the One-on-One Foundation. The foundation will be funded from my
company, where we will be contributing 10% of all First Aid Course fees.
The One-on-One Foundation will provide grants to community groups to purchase
much needed First Aid Equipment like AEDs, First Aid kits and specialist
equipment such as Personal EPIRBS. The first round of grants will open in
February 2008 and close on the 1 March 2008.
Did you know that, “Statistics show that 80% of people, who render assistance
in an emergency, will know the person in distress?” Do you have the skills
to save a family member?
Will you take on my Challenge?

Chris Le Roy
Managing Director
One-on-One Learning Centre
